Installing atop other distros

Because MineOS' python scripts are distro-agnostic, they can be readily used on any distro, such as Ubuntu Server, FreeBSD, CentOS, etc. One benefit of MineOS, however, is that all the required packages and software are installed and pre-configured for your convenience. On the other hand, one benefit of any other OS is far greater simplicity in updating packages and the kernel (including driver support).

It's a simple tradeoff between one-size-fits-all-kernel and easy software updating and narrower-driver support, ultra-low memory footprint and 'hopefully my hardware was included'. To address the increasingly popular idea of running the scripts and the web-ui atop other distros, this page has been created.
