after linux install, minecraft server?
Why not stick the minecraft server installation instruction at the end of this tutorial/wiki? --Vernes 08:18, 20 June 2011 (MDT)
I've been spending a lot of time writing up this wiki and working on some other tweaks, but I seem to be getting an underwhelming response to people being interested in building their own MineOS. I've been putting off the linux scripts, as the steps for the Minecraft server should be far more straightforward than the rest of this tutorial (building linux is much more difficult than using python scripts).
The general idea is to take the MineOS scripts (either from MineOS or MineOS+)--I presume MineOS+, since its in active development. Adjusting the uservars file to match the locations of the downloaded Minecraft server jar and the java path should pretty much be it--in getting the python scripts to work.
Since I (and MineOS+) are considering PHP based web-admins, Ive been exploring that too, vs walking through users to turn LIGHTTPD into a CGI web server, which is...quite a task. If for example the work is less to port it to PHP and abandon python (and do PHP command line, too), than to get lighttpd+fastcgi working (MineOS uses Busybox HTTPD, not lighttpd)--then I'd put my efforts there.
Anyway, I'd be happy to help you out on a more personal note if you need--Doesn't seem I have much demand for support just yet. -hexparrot 18:18, 20 June 2011 (MST)
